Rally Opposing Bailouts for FirstEnergy’s Nuclear and Coal Plants

The PUCO has postponed the hearings for the third time, to August 31, for which date we will reschedule our rally. Postponing is likely a good sign. PUCO has gotten a lot of push-back from the public, showing statistics that contradict the propaganda being fed to them by FirstEnergy. They will have a harder time rubberstamping the request and any complicity with industry would stand out.

Rally to Defend the American Dream

Friday, August 21, 9am-12noon, beginning at McPerson Commons [also known as “Arch Park”], south of the intersection of John McConnell Blvd. and Nationwide Blvd.; and proceeding to a public area near the Columbus Convection Center, 400 N. High St.

“Americans for Prosperity,” a “front group” funded by the billionaire Koch Brothers, will be holding their “Defending the American Dream Summit” at the Columbus Convention Center, 400 N. High St., August 21-22.

Protest at the Wendy’s at 2020 N. High St.

Columbus is proud to host the Disciples of Christ General Assembly this weekend. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) have been long-time supporters of Coalition of Immokalee Workers in the fight for fair food. While in town, the Disciples of Christ will be hosting a vigil outside of the Wendy’s on Woodruff & High (2020 North High St.) to urge the fast-food giant to join the Fair Food Program for farmworker justice.

See you this Sunday at 6pm!
