“Columbus Rally for Public Transit and a Green Future,” hosted by Sunrise Movement

Saturday, July 17, 12noon-3pm, Ohio Statehouse

In February, Sunrise Columbus and Sunrise hubs across Ohio launched a campaign for transit justice. We delivered over 100 letters to Senator Sherrod Brown, who, as Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, is uniquely positioned to impact transit in our country. We demand that Senator Brown champion public transit and secure federal funding for expanded, accessible, and green public transit.

Why should you care about public transit?

“Not Our Ohio, Not Our Budget Rally,” hosted by NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio and seven other organizations

Tuesday, June 29, 12noon, Ohio Statehouse

Every Ohioan, regardless of where we are from, what we look like, or where we live, deserves the opportunity to live in healthy, safe communities that support us and allow us to thrive. Ohio’s unaccountable extremist politicians have crafted the state budget with the intent to help the wealthiest Ohioans while harming the rest of us, especially Ohioans who are Black, brown, transgender, and gender non-conforming, those who live in rural areas, have low incomes, and are in need of abortion care.

On June 26, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will end the $300/week federal unemployment benefits for Ohio. These payments are federally funded in full and were supposed to be available until September. Far from recovered, workers still need these payments to pay their bills and buy groceries.
