Time. It’s nearly impossible to define. We cannot control it. But we treasure it. We seek it. Yet, sometimes, we waste it, kill it, and ignore it. Memories of past times can comfort us or haunt us.

The mysterious intertwining of time and memory. That’s the theme of Bill Cohen’s all-new concert, taking place in-person April 2 at 7pm at the First Unitarian Church of Columbus, 93 W. Weisheimer Road.

Saturday, March 26, 8-10pm, Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave.

Call it “progressive bluegrass.” Or call it “Americana/newgrass.” But whatever you call it, this modern high-energy blend of new and old music will energize the audience Saturday, March 26, as the Columbus Folk Music Society presents the tunes of Perennial Rye.

A holiday mash-up for the entire family, “The Hip Hop Nutcracker” is a re-mixed and re-imagined contemporary dance spectacle that transforms E.T.A. Hoffmann’s beloved story from traditional 19th-century Germany to the vibrant sights and sounds of contemporary New York City. Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince go on a dream adventure battling a gang of mice, visiting the land of sweets, and learning the lessons of the holiday season.

Friends. Freedom. Food. Music. Parents. Children. Pets. Laughter. Emotions. And dozens of other things. Despite the virus, racial injustice, and many other challenges, we all have so much to be thankful for.

So join me [Bill Cohen] from 7pm to 8:30pm on Friday, November 26 as I sing a unique concert of songs that express gratitude for all that we have. It’s our eighth year for this Thanksgiving-themed concert.
