The End of Executions is a week-long virtual conference featuring amazing speakers with voices of experience on the death penalty, daily panel discussions, and virtual execution vigils. Explore with us the awful evils of the unnecessary death penalty, and how we’re going to end it in the United States.

This series of events is timed to coincide with the three executions scheduled for this week on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.

The Ohio Poor People’s Campaign Political Education team is excited to have Julian Mack, community organizer and Black Lives Matter activist from Toledo, with us on January 7 at 7pm to speak with us about the role of racism in our society in the oppression of poor people. Rev. Barber writes, “Some will ask, ‘Is the real issue today race or is it class?’ We answer: ‘Yes, it’s race and class’.”

Saturday, January 16, 2:30-4:30pm, this on-line event requires advance registration

This afternoon will consist of a testimonial by one of our members, James, followed by an informative presentation by a physician who is certified in the field of lifestyle medicine, Dr. David Drozek. There will be plenty of time for question-and-answer at the end, so please bring your questions!

Join us on Tuesday, January 12 at 7:30pm; we will be joined by Greg Coleridge from Move to Amend to learn about the successes in 2020 and the plans for 2021; plus Chuck Watts, from Empathy Surplus, will join us for a special training on the use of language and how we can be more effective communicators as we build the movement.

Transgender people are disproportionately impacted by HIV and its criminalization. Join The Ohio Health Modernization Movement for a discussion on the unique challenges that transgender and gender-non-conforming people face in the legal system, the HIV care and prevention systems, and even within the LGBTQ community. Panelists will also briefly provide an overview of the correct terminology to use when discussing transgender people.
