Community

Wednesday, May 17, many times and locations in Central Ohio

The Columbus Foundation is engaging the people of central Ohio to share their voices and some fun, food, and drink while discussing what strengthens and what challenges our community. Open, thoughtful conversations will spark new relationships and new ways for working together by deepening our understanding of each other and what the community needs.

Tuesday, May 16, 6-8:30pm, Greater Columbus Convention Center [Battelle North] [the north half of the Battelle Grand Ballroom], 400 N. High St.

Join us for our Planned Parenthood centennial event, a time to honor our past and join together for our second century. Our commitment to protecting the rights and health care for the women, men and young people of Ohio is unwavering.

United, we will stand strong.

We need you with us. Are you ready to stand with us, no matter what?

Monday, May 15, 6:30-8:30pm, Bethel International United Methodist Church, 1200 Bethel Rd.

Niagara Foundation’s annual Abrahamic Traditions Dinner brings together the people of diverse faith traditions and celebrates the riches of Columbus’ religious diversity as one family. This program strengthens friendship and understanding among not only the people of the Abrahamic faith traditions but it also welcomes and embraces people of all faiths such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikh, and others.

Monday, May 15, 6-8pm, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission [MORPC], 111 Liberty St., #100

Simply Living will be participating in an interactive exercise that will ask us to envision what our city will look like in 2050, especially with regard to development and population growth. Attenders will learn how city planning impacts the local experience.

This Meetup is a great follow-up to the May 9 film, “Biophilic Design: The Architecture of Life.”

Saturday, May 13, 7-8:30pm, Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave.

The Dances of Universal Peace are simple, meditative, and joyous circle dances that celebrate the variety of spiritual paths on Earth. If you like folk dancing, you’ll be right at home here. No previous experience is needed — just an open and willing attitude. Participation, not presentation, is the focus.

Wednesday, May 3, 10am-4pm, The Columbus Athenaeum, 32 N. Fourth St.; and Ohio Statehouse

Freedom of Choice Ohio will hold our annual Advocacy Day on May 3, 2017. This year, Ohio women and men will gather at the Ohio Statehouse to demand an end to the anti-woman agenda that is being pushed by Ohio Governor John Kasich and by the Ohio legislature. Kasich has passed multiple abortion bans, defunded Planned Parenthood, and is using his Department of Health to harass abortion providers.
