Empty your closets of unwanted items that are gently, barely or never used (clothes, dressy scarves, outerwear, shoes, costume jewelry, sunglasses and purses) and bring them to St. John’s Church on March 6 between 4:30-8pm to get your “golden ticket” that allows you to take unlimited items at the swap the next day.

Thursday, March 5, 7-8:30pm, Compassionate Communication Center of Ohio [inside of Maynard Ave. United Methodist Church], 2350 Indianola Ave.

Join us for an engaging and fun introduction to Compassionate-Nonviolent Communication (NVC), the Language of the Heart, led by Susanna Warren.

People of all experience levels, ranging from beginners to experienced practitioners, are welcome to this gathering. We will have a short explanation, a demonstration, and then we will give everyone a chance to practice giving and/or receiving empathy.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation invites guests to enjoy locally-crafted brews and cocktails, creative and delicious food tastings from area restaurants, live music, expansive live and silent auctions, and networking with the area’s best and brightest, at the first annual Columbus’ Brewer’s Ball on Thursday, March 5. The Ball is the culminating event for the “Columbus’ Finest” campaign that runs from November 2019 through March 2020 in recognition of our Honorees.

As part of its HistorySpeaks 2020 series, the Upper Arlington Historical Society is pleased to present author Richard Rothstein discussing themes from his 2018 book The Color of Law. Book sales by Gramercy Books of Bexley will be available pre-event and post-event; book signings will be available after the lecture and question-and-answer period.

Join Mayor Andrew J. Ginther for the Columbus Women’s Commission Town Hall. Learn about the Commission’s work in 2019 and hear about its goals moving forward. You will have the opportunity to discuss issues impacting women in our community with commissioners and share your input on the Commission’s work.

Sunday, February 23, 2-7pm, Summit on 16th United Methodist Church, 82 E. 16th Ave.; and then outside of the YMCA shelter, 40 W. Long St.

We’ll be cooking to share a meal outside of the downtown YMCA shelter again. Bring whatever vegan(ish) food you can find, or just bring yourself to help prepare the meal, or just come over for conversation and company. New people are always welcome! The “Facebook address” on this event is where the cooking itself will occur. We’re test-running a new cooking location that is a bit bigger and is wheelchair-accessible.

Black Sheep Monologues is a storytelling event that centers the lives and experiences of Black LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities.

Join us on February 22 to celebrate our voices and our community.

There will be an open mic and our features will be announced soon!
