But have no fear, your opportunity for visually-driven public-speaking has arrived! Make a slideshow (PowerPoint, Google Slides, whatever) about anything you want and share with the “class” of your LGBTQ+ peers.

Her books include The Good News Club: The Christian Right’s Stealth Assault on America’s Children (2012) and The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism (2020).

Hosted by the Ohio Council of Churches’ Anti-Racism Committee in partnership with the African American Heritage Ministry of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, join us for three consecutive weeks in a virtual study of the 1619 Project [developed by The New York Times Magazine].

Our first presenter will be Rev. Dr. Tim Ahrens, Senior Minister, First Congregational United Church of Christ in Columbus.

Lauren Regan, Executive Director and Senior Staff Attorney, and CLDC advisory board member and former political prisoner Daniel McGowan, will discuss the “Green Scare” — the largest federal prosecution of environmental and animal rights activists in U.S. history.

Daniel was a non-cooperating defendant, represented by Lauren. They will discuss the historic importance of these cases to movements and current implications regarding State repression and front-line actions.

The Ohio Council of Churches is putting top emphasis on racism this year.

The new leaders, the Rev. Jack Sullivan and the Rev. Brandi Slaughter, have put together a meaningful program of events, including a “lunch and learn” webinar series, “Feeding the Multitude.” This interactive webinar series will be held via Zoom the third Thursday of each month from 12noon to 1pm.

This series aims to do the following.
