The “Democracy In Action” award is given annually to an individual and/or organization who has made outstanding contributions to the civic life of Central Ohio.

In 2022, the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus will be honoring the crucial role of strong local journalism. Amplifying democracy and civic engagement in the Central Ohio community, journalists consistently provide accurate, factual and complete information to the public about the democratic process.

As we have seen over the past year, the Ohio Supreme Court is critical to preserving our democracy. The choices we make this fall will impact the court.

Come and meet Judge Terri Jamison, candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court.

Please keep in mind, this is an opportunity to learn about her journey and judicial background. Please understand that judicial candidates can’t respond to issue or policy questions.

Simply Living is excited to host Mike Hogan and learn about urban farming and the developing food systems in central Ohio. Mike will share a slide presentation and entertain our questions. Mike contributes to Edible Columbus and The Columbus Dispatch. He is an educator with The Ohio State University Extension in Franklin County and shares his knowledge of food and agriculture throughout Ohio.

The below text is the “official” description of this event.

Last convened as a Commission in 2014, the Charter Review Commission reviews the Columbus City Charter and may recommend changes. The Charter, originally adopted by voters in 1914, outlines the fundamental rights, powers and responsibilities of the citizens and their elected municipal officials. Any amendments to the Charter would require a vote of Council and the approval of Columbus voters during a future election.
