PAST Productions Columbus theatre company is sponsoring a free workshop at this year’s festival, “See You On Stage: Theatre Preparedness.” Learn how to audition and how to prepare for auditions. Preparation is the key to getting the part. Don’t get discouraged. This is an adult and youth (middle school and high school) workshop. Interactive participation is required; pre-registration is encouraged because space is limited.

The Ballad of Trayvon Martin is a poetic docudrama with music inspired by events surrounding the death of teenager Trayvon Martin on 2-26-2012. The actors represent “America” and, in their choices as an ensemble, should reflect the diverse racial and political landscape of the United States of America. Presented by Freedom Theatre [from Philadelphia, PA] playwrights Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj and Thomas J. Soto.

What happens when a pastor is accused of murder? Will the upstanding church board members support him or believe the media? Find out what secrets come out during the division of the members. This comedy mystery is written by the founder of the Columbus Black Theatre Festival, Julie Whitney Scott, who will return to Columbus, Ohio for the festival.

Tasha Neal (returning for the third year) brings her one-woman comedy act, “A Survivor’s Guide to a G-h-e-t-t-o Family.” Come enjoy the artists, dance, have fun and/or sign-up and win the $100 prize for sharing your talent.
