The Ohio General Assembly has added an as-needed session day on Thursday, December 27 to override Governor Kasich’s possible vetoes to H.B. 258, the six-week abortion ban, and S.B. 145, the abortion method ban.

We must show anti-abortion politicians that, holidays or not, we are showing up in full force to stop these dangerous and unconstitutional bans from becoming law.

Sunday, December 23, 5-7pm, Columbus Division of Police, 120 Marconi Blvd.

On December 7, Julius Tate, Jr., a 16-year-old black teen, was the 12th person to be killed by the Columbus Division of Police. His own mother stated that he was killed in “cold blood.” His murder is a continuation of the violence that CPD has done against its most vulnerable communities.

Now, CPD is trying to pin his murder on Masonique Saunders, Julius’ girlfriend.

We won’t go back on abortion access in Ohio! Rally at the Ohio Statehouse on Tuesday, December 4, at 12noon, to show state lawmakers and Gov. Kasich that there are no acceptable abortion bans or restrictions.

With the Ohio House’s vote to pass a six-week abortion ban, we need to clearly communicate to the Ohio Senate that progress on this bill should stop immediately.

Join us as we call upon our state lawmakers to pass LGBTQ-inclusive nondiscrimination protections. Ohioans of faith from all backgrounds and religious traditions support LGBTQ-inclusion and believe that we are all children of God.

The Ohio Fairness Act (House Bill 160) would extend basic civil rights protections to LGBTQ Ohioans. If passed into law, it would make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression in employment, housing, and public accommodations.

Edith Espinal has been in sanctuary at Columbus Mennonite Church, for one year, fighting to stay with her family in Columbus. Join us for a rally outside of the ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] offices, at the LeVeque Tower, beginning at 11:30am.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will be holding a public hearing on the proposed Perry State Forest coal mine on Tuesday, October 2 at 6pm at New Lexington High School.

If you can only do one thing to protect the Perry State Forest, make it attending and commenting at this meeting! It is essential that we send a strong message to the State that the public cares about Perry State Forest.

The Columbus Community Bill of Rights:

1. Gathered over 12,000 valid signatures;

2. Passed legal requirements — Columbus City Council approved the ballot initiative;

3. Two people (oil-and-gas-related) filed a complaint to the Franklin County Board of Elections;

4. The Franklin County Board of Elections voted “no” without hearing any testimony;

5. Columbus Community Bill of Rights filed a complaint to the Ohio Supreme Court;

On September 8, join hundreds of Central Ohio citizens who will rise alongside people in cities around the world to demand that our local leaders commit to building a world that works for all of us.

Join us as we support local efforts to push Columbus to commit to 100% renewable energy, climate, economic, and social justice; and demand that they “walk the talk” on climate action.
