Prisoner Letter Writing and Film Screening

Saturday, December 15, 2:30-5:30pm, Shepard Branch Library, 850 N. Nelson Rd.

Cages are disabling and traumatizing environments. As a result, prisoners suffer from low morale. They also suffer from a variety of human rights abuses committed by jail and prison officials such as torture and “extremely poor-quality-health care.” These forms of violence are state-sanctioned. Therefore, we can’t expect meaningful oversight of Ohio’s concentration camps to come from the state.

Please bring a friend and join us in room 2. A film screening of “Cruel and Unusual: The Story of the Angola 3” will precede our 23rd letter-writing event. The film is about members of the Black Panther Party who were targeted by Louisiana State Penitentiary officials for the murder of a prison guard. After the film, we’ll write letters of support to Evelyn and Laverne.

Hosted by Central Ohio Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee [IWOC].
