“Party Like it’s 1899 — Ohio State at the end of the 19th Century,” hosted by Ohio History Connection

Thursday, July 22, 6-7pm, this on-line event requires advance registration

Once upon a time, students at Ohio State stood on the side of a field to watch a football game, they paid $5 per term for tuition, and most of them spent their time learning in just one classroom building. The university opened in 1873 as a small agricultural college on the outer fringes of Columbus, but by the turn of the century it had made significant steps in becoming the major research institution and athletic powerhouse that it is today. Join Ohio State University archivists Kevlin Haire and Halle Mares as they guide you through a decade of substantial transformation for the campus.
