News Conference: Bill to Abolish the Death Penalty to be Introduced in Ohio House

A bill that will repeal Ohio’s death penalty will be introduced next week in the Ohio House of Representatives. This bipartisan legislation is sponsored by Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) and Rep. Adam Miller (D-Columbus); a list of bipartisan cosponsors will be forthcoming.

The No Death Penalty Ohio Coalition will hold a press conference to discuss the broad support for repeal on Wednesday, September 6 at 10am in the Ladies’ Gallery at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.

• Rep. Adam Miller (D-Columbus)

• Tom Roberts, president of the Ohio Conference of the NAACP

• William Kuehnle, assoc. director, Social Concerns, Catholic Conference of Ohio

• Jonathan Mann, vice chair, Ohioans to Stop Executions, father was murdered

• Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan, executive director, Ohio Council of Churches

• Allison Reynolds-Berry, executive director, Ignite Peace of Cincinnati

• Demetrius Minor, national manager, Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty, Dayton native

• Allison Cohen, executive director, Ohioans to Stop Executions
