Performance poetry is an integral part of the OSU African American Heritage Festival. It provides an environment for artists to share their personal experiences through the use of their own words. In its 37th year, the OSU African American Heritage Festival’s theme is love. The Poetry Showcase will display love’s many forms through the words of poets throughout Ohio. In three distinct sections, poets will be challenged to creatively convey the love of family, friends and romantic partners.

This year’s 37th Annual OSU African American Heritage Festival’s Kick-Off Celebration hopes to inform Ohio State’s community about the OSU African American Heritage Festival and to encourage that community to support the whole week of events the festival has to offer. In the Great Hall Meeting Room, this year’s celebration will be featuring a plethora of great food and desserts, exhilarating performances, exciting games, cool prizes, and so much more. We invite you to come celebrate with us!

Ohio erupted in 2014 when John Crawford III was killed in a Walmart for attempting to purchase a toy gun. Young people across the state, led by Black youth, built a movement to win justice for John Crawford and to create a fundamental shift in the relationship of power between law enforcement and our communities. We called on our Attorney General Mike DeWine to overhaul the training and protocols related to use of force and racial bias. If he or our Governor had taken action in a meaningful way they could have maybe prevented any further unjust officer-involved shootings.

Join us at Stonewall Columbus (upstairs) to learn more about alternative health in Central Ohio.

Remember the fourth anniversary of the Fukushima disaster by joining a worldwide boycott of grid power as a protest against nuclear energy.

There are four Levels of participation: Level 1: Turning off extra lights and electronics; Level 2: Using only essentials like furnaces or sump pumps; Level 3: Disconnecting completely from the grid for 24 hours; and Level 4: Putting more power onto the grid using solar or wind than is used that day.
