U.S. Congressional Representative John Conyers is coming to Ohio in conjunction with the Jobs for All National 2015/16 Tour. The Town Hall meetings will feature testimony on the impact of long-term unemployment and poverty on the Columbus community. There will be presentations on job creation, raising the minimum wage, health care and other important issues. The primary goal is to elevate the jobs issue to national prominence.

The monthly meeting of the local affiliate of the national Move to Amend organization that is calling for a U.S. Constitutional amendment to reverse several U.S. Supreme Court decisions during the past century and thereby to firmly establish that corporations are not people and that money is not free speech. The Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is held in November each year to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. Although not every person represented during the Day of Remembrance had self-identified as transgender, each was a victim of violence based on bias or prejudice against transgender people.

A reading group initiated by the Franklin County Green Party has formed to discuss Naomi Klein’s latest book This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate. The group will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in Room 100 of the Northwood-High Building, 2231 N. High St. This event will follow the regular second-Tuesday 5:30pm Franklin County Green Party meeting.

Come join fellow atheists, agnostics, skeptics, humanists, freethinkers, and Unitarian Universalists for the fourth annual Flying Spaghetti Monster Benefit Dinner to help raise money and food for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. There is going to be music, a bake sale, kid-friendly activities, raffles, and a silent auction. The food is great (vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free) as are the conversations.
