Community

Saturday, June 26, 10-11:15am, Goodale Park, 120 W. Goodale St.

We stand in solidarity with the black community and we hope that you will unite with us in One Love. We welcome all levels, including kids and beginners.

Just show up downtown around 10am. Bring your big heart, any signage, and help us to spread the word by telling your friends. Practice the entire time, lie down, or meditate. You do you.

We ask that you bring a mask and that you practice social distancing with your mat/towel placement.

Saturday, June 27, 1-3pm, The Vanderelli Room, 218 McDowell St.

Join us between 1pm and 3pm at The Vanderelli Room to sign the official petition to remove Columbus Mayor Ginther. He hasn’t been doing his job very well. His personal and political interests are worth more to him then the people who he has been elected to serve.

Even if you’ve signed an online petition, I’m told that it does not count. So please come by and sign this one! Also, you must be a registered voter in Columbus proper for your signature to count on this petition.

Friday, June 26, 6pm, Goodale Park, 120 W. Goodale St.; Bicentennial Park, 233 S. Civic Center Dr.; and Goodale Park, 120 W. Goodale St.

Calling for all Black Lives Matter [BLM] organizations and everyone able to come out and support the movement. We will be meeting at Goodale Park in downtown Columbus at 6pm on Friday and will start the parade at 6:30pm. We will be marching and parading, starting from Goodale Park, looping around by Bicentennial Park, and marching back to end at Goodale Park.

Recent Black Lives Matter protests have already gained some significant victories, reaching further toward abolition than many may have thought possible in this lifetime.

As we stand on the precipice of so much potential change, there’s an understandable impulse to reach for “replacements” — institutions to fill in for police and prisons. Yet we can’t simply call for social workers to replace police.

Tuesday, June 23, 5-7pm, this on-line event requires advance registration

We are witnessing a global uprising from people of color in the United States and around the world and it’s on white folks to meet this moment with a renewed commitment to personal and structural transformation.
