As we continue to see the effects of climate change on various parts of the world, displacement from climate disaster is becoming less of a far-off scenario — especially for many of our Guatemalan neighbors.

In “Climate Justice and Migration: A Faith Perspective,” Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service [LIRS] will host a dialogue on the intersection between climate displacement and faith, both for those in the U.S. and for our heavily-burdened brothers and sisters in Guatemala.

Join us at Doran’s Farm Market in New Albany on a Sunday afternoon in October. This will be a wonderful time for picking out pumpkins from a pumpkin patch. Pure Joy Massage and Yoga has hired the Drank Tank with hot apple cider, specialty coffee drinks, and Kombucha . . . all vegan! The first 30 beverages will be complimentary to those from the Columbus Vegan Meetup who are wearing vegan name tags [that will be provided].

CRIS [Community Refugee and Immigration Services] will be hosting its annual 5K For Refugees on October 9. Registration begins at 8am; the Kid’s Race will begin at 9:45am; the Run/Walk will begin at 10am.

Join us at our live and in-person event, or virtually between Wednesday, October 6, and Sunday, October 10, to complete your 5K run or walk as we celebrate our mission and our community.

Thursday, October 7, 6-8pm, beginning and ending at Grandview Heights Public Library, 1685 W. First Ave.

Enjoy a walking tour of Grandview with unique chocolate stops at participating businesses. This event benefits the Grandview Heights Public Library Foundation while highlighting Grandview Heights’ outstanding pedestrian-friendly business district.

This year, masks and social distancing are strongly encouraged while visiting participating businesses.
