Dr. Andrew Fiala (Philosophy, Fresno State) will be joining the Political Theory Workshop to speak on “War Abolition and the Whole War Critique.” CEHV is pleased to co-sponsor this event.

Building on his recent book, Can War Be Justified? A Debate (Routledge, 2023), co-authored with Jennifer Kling, Professor Fiala will distinguish the pacifist critique of war as a social/political institution from just war theory.

This sixth annual event highlights the King-Lincoln Bronzeville District, a historically African-American area in Columbus, Ohio. Our goal is to highlight the unique and creative lives of this diverse neighborhood and show how their experiences connect to national and global narratives and solutions.

The theme for TEDxKingLincolnBronzeville 2023 is “Imagine If.” Join us to hear from some dynamic speakers who share how they visualize the future of our community!

Six scholars, representing a range of disciplinary, historical, cultural, and theological perspectives, will each offer a 20-minute presentation drawing on their own research to address a common set of questions. Each presentation will be followed by question-and-answer and discussion. In addition, the scholars will participate in a closing, moderated panel discussion about patterns and differences across time and place.
