Join us for a dynamic and unapologetic deep dive into the roots and impact of African enslavement — told through the lens of African people themselves. This experience will trace the development of slavery in the Western Hemisphere, with a focus on the United States, while centering Africa’s resistance and the enduring struggle for freedom, self-determination, and the dismantling of colonial slave economies.
2025 Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival

Since 1966, the Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival has celebrated and shared the arts with the community and region. Each year, visitors flock to Upper Arlington on Labor Day to immerse themselves in hands-on art activities, live music as part of the Upper Arlington Performance Series, and the opportunity to explore and purchase fine art and fine craft work from some 120 artists working in a variety of media including paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, and mixed media.

Powerful vocal harmonies will be added by veteran Columbus musicians Phil Hart and Teresa Schleifer.
Plus, we’ll recall how, decades ago, labor unions won historic reforms that many of us take for granted today — the eight-hour workday, improved workplace safety, a guaranteed minimum wage, and an end to child labor.
