Friday, June 14, 6-9pm, Wild Goose Creative, 188 McDowell St.

“LGBTQ+” encompasses a diverse spectrum of identities, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and others. Inspired by iO Tillett Wright’s TedxWomen Talk, “Fifty Shades of Gay,” our exhibition draws parallels between geographical borders and the nuances of LGBTQ+ experiences in the United States.

Thursday, June 13, 10:30am-2pm, Frank W. Hale Black Cultural Center, 154 W. 12th Ave.

Black creativity is a common theme of Black joy and celebration, and Juneteenth is no exception. Juneteenth celebrations offer communities the opportunity to engage in the expression of Black joy and creativity while commemorating the ending of slavery across the United States. Black art has the power to narrate the lived experiences of Black Americans in a way that creates community with one another.
