Community

On Friday, Nov. 21, the Columbus Police Foundation, FOP Local 9, and the Greater Eastside Coalition, in collaboration with the Department of Neighborhoods and local area commissions, will host the annual Far Eastside Turkey Giveaway. This initiative, supporting Mayor Ginther’s Eastland for Everyone Plan, aims to provide complete holiday meals to hundreds of residents who might otherwise go without a festive meal.

It's Trans Awareness Week! But what does that mean for trans Ohioans, and their allies?

Recognized yearly from November 13-19, Trans Awareness Week was created to celebrate how far we've come in the fight for trans liberation, and highlight areas where there’s still plenty of work to do.

The following day, November 20, we recognize Transgender Day of Remembrance and honor, grieve, & uplift victims of transphobic violence.

After a long and difficult government shutdown many Ohioans are looking for a moment to reconnect, reflect, and move forward together. Few figures symbolize unity, courage, and community more than Rosa Parks.

This year marks the 20th Annual Statewide Tribute to Rosa Parks — 20 years since I led the effort for Ohio to become the first state to designate December 1 as Rosa Parks Day.

It remains a milestone that unites our communities and leaders.

This event is held every Sunday.

Let’s stand up for democracy while building a community via a postcard writing party. We will supply cards, snacks and drinks. Feel free to bring anything to make the postcards more fun to read with stickers or markers. For those who are able, stamps are appreciated.

NARRATIVES OF RESILIENCE
11th Annual Gala & Awards Ceremony

Join us for an inspiring evening celebrating Columbus’ immigrant and refugee youth and their allies. Together, we will honor community champions with Annual Deah’s Excellence Awards, Most Resilient Team Members & Allies Awards and Chrys Gee’s Activist Award. The proceeds of this event will fuel the programs that uplift Columbus’ most vulnerable families and youth.
